Huge shout out to artist Sarah Jane Jamison for entrusting Latela Curatorial for her first solo-exhibition.

I always tell artists to think critically about where they want to host their first exhibition. We have amazing opportunities right in Washington DC for emerging artists such as Hillyer Art Space which specializes in hosting an artists first solo show, Hamiltonian’s Fellowship Program which you cannot apply to if you’ve already had a solo exhibition, and Transformer which actually pays artists a stipend if accepted to exhibit. I lay all of these options and more out on the table to that artists are aware of what they may forfeit if they exhibit at Latela Curatorial first. But sometimes, if the shoe fits, it fits and I am beyond excited to live with Sarah’s drawings for a month!

Sarah’s exhibition was covered by Smithsonian Folklife Festival and in the Washington Post.
